Album Review

The album that I chose to listen to was Saint Heron. I would rate this album a 2/5. The music was good but just not good enough. I didn't like the lyrics but the beat of the songs were pretty good especially in Bank Head by Kingdom. This is an album I wouldn't find myself listening to everyday, but probably when I'm about to go to sleep.

Apply & Interepret

Phil Collins used his lyrics to describe how he is feeling and it brings out the mood of the song, that it is depressing. The song is about his divorce with his first wife Andrea, but a lot of people has had their own interpretations where they came up with a myth that he saw someone watch his friend drown and that person didn't bother to help. That's a dumb myth though because I'm pretty sure he woud've reported it to the police and that everyone would know who his friend is. His lyrics were easily misunderstood because of how he worded it. It's really descriptive because it talks about drowning.

Maybellene

Maybellene starts with the chorus, then verse, then chorus, then verse, then chorus, then solo and so on. The song is organized cause every time the chorus comes around he uses 12 bar blues. When the verse comes around he uses one chord. He wants to make space for his lyrics, which is why he uses one chord. He repeats the same words in the chorus, and he can have more harmony because he is saying the same words over and over again. The lyrics change every verse which helps progress the storyline. The contrast is the lyrics keep changing on the verse but it stays the same on the chorus because it gives us a story. The whole song is in verse chorus form. The similarity is the rhythm section.

The Queens Type of Music

I love all types of music, but what I find myself mostly listening to is Indie music and EDM. The reason I like Indie music is because it offers diverse, new, and interesting music for people like me who get tired of listening to the same thing over and over again. It gets kind of boring listening to the radio all the time because you hear the same old stuff. Not the case with indie. My favorite Indie artist would have to be Florence and The Machine. As for EDM, I love EDM because EDM is just live and puts me in a good mood when I listen to it. Also I love the beat, especially when the beat drops.
